Sarum by Edward Rutherford

Sarum  Chris  Review by: Chris

Title:  Sarum

Author:  Edward Rutherford

Collection:  Adult Fiction

Sarum, in the southwestern part of England, is the location of the ancient cathedral city Salisbury and close neighbor of Stonehenge.  However, these two well-known landmarks are only a small part of the area’s rich history.  This is a place that author Eduard Rutherfurd knows well because he was born there, and here in his first novel, Rutherfurd delves into Sarum’s prehistory to follow five families through the centuries in an epic style reminiscent of James Michener.  Fans of Michener’s works as well as those with a fondness for English history will certainly want to check out Sarum and some of Rutherfurd’s other titles.
