Bones: Season One

     Review by:  Lisa

Title:  Bones:  Season One

Starring:  David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, Michaela Conlin, Eric Millegan, TJ Thyne

Collection:  Movies

Inspired by the Temperance Brennan mystery series by Kathy Reichs.  Smartly written and well-acted, the first season of Bones focuses on the collaborations between FBI special agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel), whom Booth somewhat sarcastically nicknames “Bones.”

The characters of Booth and Brennan are well developed and full of fascinating quirks and their own mysterious pasts that are revealed throughout the season, and there is great chemistry between the two.  I’ve no doubt that as I work my way through the rest of the seasons, this will continue.  The full cast are great, each one bringing a special balance to the stories told in each episode.  I’m not sure why I didn’t start watching the episodes back in 2005 when it debuted, but am very happy to have discovered the series at the library shelves nonetheless.  Now..on to season 2 and I think I will also pick up Deja Dead, Reich’s first book in the series!

Be warned, there is evidence that the creators of the episodes are looking for authentic depictions of the crime scenes and are not for the faint of heart.
