Adjustment Bureau (PG-13)

    Review by: Lisa

Title:  Adjustment Bureau

Starring:  Matt Damon, Anthony MacKie, Emily Blunt, John Slattery

Collection:  Movies

A man glimpses the future fate has planned for him and chooses to fight for his own destiny. Battling the powerful Adjustment Bureau across, under, and through the streets of New York, he risks his destined greatness to be with the only woman he’s ever loved.

I have mentioned in the past how enamored I am of Matt Damon, who I think has had stellar performances as an action star (The Bourne series), as well as in serious roles  that have earned him critical acclaim (Good Will Hunting, Invictus, True Grit).  I also enjoyed Emily Blunt as Queen Victoria in The Young Victoria.

In this film, based on a novelette by Philip K. Dick,  Damon plays a politician–a likable politician at that!  Emily Blunt is the mystery woman who he encounters more than once by chance, with whom he has an instant connection and the magical chemistry of soul mates.  They want to be together, but the Adjustment Bureau has a different idea about it, and use their powers to keep them apart.  Will they find a way to overcome this seemingly overpowering force of time and space manipulators?
