Title:  Red Sled

Author:  Lita Judge

Collection:  EZ Children’s Books

When a well-loved sled is left outside a cozy cabin on a still winter’s night, an unlikely cast of creatures forge new friendships during the ride of their lives.  In this almost wordless picture book, a host of woodland creatures take a child’s sled for a nighttime joy ride. Their whimsical ride is gorgeously depicted in bold watercolor, complemented by humorous expressions and pitch-perfect sound effects. With a timeless tone and classic characters, RED SLED will become a wintertime favorite.

In a word:  charming!  The Red Sled begs to be read aloud, particularly by those who enjoy doing sound effects.  And, as Sherri at Washington Street Library pointed out, your child will love to make up their own words to go along with the pictures they are seeing in the book.  The perfect book to read after you come back indoors from a sled ride sitting together with a cup of hot cocoa.
