You just got an ereader for Christmas. Now what?

The Allegany County Library System offers a variety of Downloadable eBook, audiobook and music.  Access these services 24/7 using a computer, your library card number and PIN.  Now, your library never closes!

  • eBooks:  your book is downloaded to your device to read
  • Audiobooks:  your book is downloaded to your device to listen to
  • Music:  your song is downloaded to your device to listen to

Due to the explosive growth of the eRead and eBook market this past season, the Allegany County Library System will now offer eReader workshops that are more specific to the device and software you might own.  There will be a workshop for any and all eReader devices from Amazon, a separate workshop for eReaders from Apple, and another workshop for those with Barnes & Noble eReaders like the Nook or Nook Color. Each workshop will focus on one of the main types of eReader devices and how to use them to download free audio and eBooks from the library.

Workshops for learning about Amazon devices will be held Tuesday, January 3 at 6:00 PM at the Washington Street Branch; Thursday, January 26 at 6:00 PM at the Frostburg Branch; and Thursday, February 9 at 2:00 PM at the Westernport Branch.  Apple devices will be covered by workshops on Tuesday, January 17 at 11:00 AM at the LaVale Branch and on Wednesday, February 15 at 2:00 PM at the Washington Street Branch. To learn more about Barnes & Noble and most other devices, attend the workshops on Wednesday, January 11 at 6:00 PM at the George’s Creek Branch; on Monday, January 30 at 11:00 AM at the South Cumberland Branch; or on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00 PM at the LaVale Branch.

Not sure which workshop is right for you?  Call the library at 301-777-1200 or ask at your local branch to find out.
