Shatter me by Tahereh Mati

    Review by:  Lisa

Title:  Shatter me

Author:  Tahereh Mati

Collection:  Teen Books

Ostracized or incarcerated her whole life, seventeen-year-old Juliette is freed on the condition that she use her horrific abilities in support of The Reestablishment, a post-apocalyptic dictatorship, but Adam, the only person ever to show her affection, offers hope of a better future.

This debut novel by author Tahereh Mati is a fast read, with lots of action and an interesting convention in the text.  As you read along, certain portions of the book show words and sentences with a strikethrough, as if the character is too shy, intimidated, or psychologically damaged to admit to acknowledging certain thoughts.  Fans of the recent rush of novels for teens that have this dystopian vibe to them will enjoy this one.
