Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Title:  Wonder

Author: R.J. Palacio

Collection:  Juvenile Fiction

Ten-year-old Auggie Pullman, who was born with extreme facial abnormalities and was not expected to survive, goes from being home-schooled to entering fifth grade at a private middle school in Manhattan, which entails enduring the taunting and fear of his classmates as he struggles to be seen as just another student.

R.J. Palacio debuts with a novel that is exceptional and should be included on every required reading list in school and shared by the entire family.  The book, in the end, is about kindness.  Thought-provoking and also a lot of fun to read, this is the best chapter book of the year.
