Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore

Title:  Bitterblue

Author:  Kristin Cashore

Collection:  Teen Books

Eighteen-year-old Bitterblue, queen of Monsea, realizes her heavy responsibility and the futility of relying on advisors who surround her with lies as she tries to help her people to heal from the thirty-five-year spell cast by her father, a violent psychopath with mind-altering abilities.

I was very excited when I learned that Kristin Cashore had a new book out, as I am a big fan of her series which started with Graceling and was followed by Fire.  Each of the three novels features a different female character, each with unique qualities and challenges.  They all take place in the same world, and most importantly, all are told in Cashore’s skillful way that transports the reader to the Seven Kingdoms, where we can easily visualize what is happening in the beautifully told story.  Highly recommended.
